Monteverde is an area that includes the town of Santa Elena and the Monteverde Reserve.
It takes about 4 hours to drive from the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San José to downtown Santa Elena.
Downtown Monteverde, known as Santa Elena, is a small charming town with plenty of good restaurants as well as souvenir shops, a pharmacy, luandry services and a couple of internet cafes.
